Welcome to the 2007 European Men's Amateur Team Championship at Western Gailes Golf Club, Ayrshire, Scotland. The combination of a wonderful links course coupled with some of the world's best amateurs on show makes for a mouth watering championship.

As president of the Scottish Golf Union in 2007, I am proud that we are hosting the European Men's Amateur Championship in the 'Home of Golf' this year. My thanks go to Western Gailes Golf Club for the courtesy of their wonderful course in July. Set in one of the finest stretches of links land anywhere in the world, Western Gailes has a long and proud tradition and I'm sure our competitors will find a challenging yet hugely enjoyable golf course.

We are also indebted to all our partners who are contributing to the staging of this Championship, not least the R&A and EventScotland. Their combined financial support has enabled the Scottish Golf Union to take this great event to a new level, enhancing both the playing and spectator experience for all those visiting North Ayrshire this week.

Our new Scotland Team Partners, Aberdeen Asset Management, have also provided valuable support for our Developing Talent programme, along with long term supporters of our squads, TaylorMade adidas Golf.

A huge vote of thanks go to the staff and volunteers who will make this Championship happen and who make an invaluable contribution to amateur golf throughout the year.
